Who belongs to PTO and what do they do?
PTO is YOU! Although fundraising is a major part of PTO, members are also involved in school support services, family fun activities, community service, and much more. Outlined below are the many "points" that make our Lenski star shine.

“Lenski-speak.” No, it’s not a foreign language, although it might sound like one if you don’t know what we’re talking about! Please keep the following guide handy to “translate” and define some of the PTO-sponsored events and activities we’re offering this year.
Fundraising
Gift Wrap sales: This is our major fundraiser for the year. Proceeds from this three-week campaign provide a great boost to our PTO bank account. Gift wrap, and assorted gift and food items are offered for sale to family, friends and neighbors. Lenski receives ½ of the total dollar amount raised!

CheckAwards: This Lenski “checkbook” is filled with gift checks (NOT coupons) to various local restaurants, retail merchants and service providers. Already a fundraising favorite, these books sell for $35 and offer savings of almost $350!

Entertainment Book: A coupon book filled with deep discounts to area restaurants, retailers, ski resorts and more. A portion of the proceeds benefits Lenski’s PTO.
DATES: first come-first serve until they are all gone Grocery – Same As Cash Card: We offer you the chance to buy King Soopers reloadable grocery -- same as cash cards that can be used for groceries, gas and prescriptions at any King Soopers. Card is reloaded at the store as needed. In return, Lenski receives 5% of total sales. Last year we collected close to $10,000 for Lenski. Grocery Card Order Form

Original Art Works: During art class, students create their own original art work with supervision from the teacher. When the project is completed, families have the opportunity to create lasting memories by purchasing items created from the artwork such as mugs, magnets, note cards, trivets, calendars, etc.
DATE: October 23, 2009Ladies Luncheon: Join us for a lovely lunch hosted at Glenmoor County Club. Luan Akin, a local television news celebrity and trained Master Gardener from Tagawa Gardens, will demonstrate how to create a variety of beautiful holiday decorations.

Casino Night at Maggiano's: This is an adult-only event held at Maggiano's Italian restaurant. The evening includes a full sit-down dinner, cash bar, casino gambling and a small number of
silent auction items.

Family Fun
Kleenex and Coffee: A chance for new parents to socialize and meet with other parents (new and old) on the first day of kindergarten.
DATE: August 16, 2009 Welcome Back Picnic: Traditionally held soon after school starts, this fun event features live music to celebrate Lenski’s literacy program. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner to eat on the front lawn.

Lunch on the Lawn: A chance to have lunch with your child. Each fall and spring, students in grades 1-5 eat outdoors on the front lawn once a week, weather permitting. (Monday is 1st grade; Tuesday is 2nd grade, etc.) While younger siblings are welcome to Lunch on the Lawn, you must notify the office early that morning if anyone other than your student plans to buy lunch from the cafeteria.
DATES: Sept. 14-Oct. 30, 2009; April 5-May 21, 2009) Bingo Night:This one is fun for the whole family! We turn the cafeteria into an old-fashioned Bingo Hall, where players compete for cash prizes. Participants also have a chance to win “way cool” kid-oriented raffle items.

PJ Pizza Party: A fun night "in" at Lenski for the kids and "out" for the parents. Various activities will be offered for the kids such as holiday crafts, movies and/or an off-site activity. Dinner and dessert will be served!

Buddy Breakfast: A chance for students to bring one special adult friend to Lenski to enjoy an amazing breakfast buffet. The guest can be a parent, grandparent, uncle or aunt. This event typically appeals to the parent who can’t make it to Lenski during normal business hours.

Classroom Parents: Plan and execute classroom parties/activities and coordinate teacher gifts. Room Parent Head may also be asked to relay important information such as emergency school closings to all class parents. Room Parent Head is supported by Room Parent Members.
Teacher Appreciation Luncheon: Volunteers organize a luncheon for teachers and provide homemade or store-bought food, as well as help serve and clean up at the semi-annual luncheon.

Media Center: The staff of our national award-winning MediaCenter appreciates having lots of help! Volunteers shelve and check-out books along with other miscellaneous tasks. Library experience is NOT necessary. Yearbook: Our all-volunteer yearbook staff uses state-of-the-art digital technology to compile a Lenski keepsake available for purchase at year-end.
Field Day: This much-anticipated year-end celebration is a day-long, co-ed competition for all grade levels. Events are age appropriate with prizes and ribbons for all participants.

Spirit Wear: Show your school pride with Lenski logo t-shirts – in sizes for the whole family. Watch for fun logo items to be introduced throughout the year. School Supplies: Each spring, returning students are given the chance to pre-purchase grade level school supplies (at no additional cost) through Lenski. Supplies are packaged and ready for pick-up at Open House in the fall.

Vision & Hearing: Volunteers escort students to and from the vision and hearing bus for this important screening.
Communications
Principal’s Coffee: Dr. DeSpain welcomes all parents to this informal chat session, held once or twice a year in the school cafeteria. Lenski Wednesday Announcements: As Lenski goes paperless, this announcement email is your main resource for PTO–related information and flyers as well as well-deserved volunteer recognition. It is sent to all Lenski parents on Wednesdays during the school year.
Lenski Website: Website is monitored and updated on an ongoing, as-needed basis. Regular features include an event calendar, lunch menu, contact information, classroom links, and “breaking news.”
The Lenski Star Newsletter: Typically published every two weeks by the school office, the newsletter provides a comprehensive overview of school activities.
Email: All-school emails are sent on an as-needed basis. They are an effective way to remind parents of upcoming events and/or deadlines.
Community Service
Broncos Wives Food Drive: Led by Student Leadership, the school-wide, non-perishable food drive benefits many nonprofit organizations throughout metro Denver. Lenski collected the most food in 2006 and 2008.

Littleton Stride:The Littleton Public Schools (LPS) Foundation uses proceeds from this run/walk event to fund teacher/student grants and district-wide projects. Join Lenski’s team in a show of school spirit! This outdoor family fitness event starts at beautiful Ketring Park, just east of Downtown Littleton.

Thanking our Troops: In celebration of Veterans Day and Thanksgiving,students have the opportunity to show their Lenski Superstar spirit by thanking men and women in the armed forces for service to our country.

Holiday Outreach: A long standing Lenski tradition, the Holiday Outreach program is designed to assist those in our local community who are in need of alittle extra support and holiday cheer.
DATES: December 1-15, 2009 Letters of Love: Area senior citizens and hospital patients love receiving Valentines from Lenski students through this uplifting Valentine writing program. This program is free to students during their lunch period - all materials provided.

Blood Drive for Children's Hospital:Although only a one-day event, this blood drive helps more than 100 Children's Hospital patients annually. The big bus arrives in the Lenski parking lot and volunteers are needed throughout the day donate blood.
